Available in sizes up to 61 inches diagonal, these displays are considerably lighter and thinner than normal cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors would be. This means that they can be wall mounted or hung from a ceiling. The truly flat design gives a picture that is distortion free. Each cell in the display is digitally controlled so no focussing or convergence problems can occur as in CRT monitors. CAN A PLASMA DISPLAY BE USED AS A TV?

Yes, plasma displays can be used as televisions by connecting a device that can receive TV signals, such as a satellite receiver, cable TV box, ordinary video recorder, etc. The device you connect would become the TV tuner and can be used to change between channels. Just remember that you need to have compatible connectors (S-video, component and composite are available on most displays), and that you need to make provision for sound by connecting the 'audio out' from your tuner to your speakers. For the very best system, you could add an A/V amplifier to take advantage of surround and fly-over sound effects.
